Tuned By www.morepower.com.au
| Tuning boxes are mainly used on EFI diesels, their purpose is to intercept the signal controlling Fuel Pressure, Injector Timing or Turbo Boost, and vary this signal to improve performance. Some of our systems are user-adjustable; these are mainly for older distributor pump style systems.
This is because these older systems do not have modern Airflow sensors, and so they do not have the ability to read airflow increases. Modern Common Rail systems are more sophisticated and have a greater ability to self-tune. The Tuning Boxes for these cars, are pre-programmed for the individual vehicle type, they are not user adjustable. But we can adjust these settings if required.
The difference between our system and similar systems is that we do not want shops to carry stock on the shelf, which would then be used as Universal fitment. The units must be supplied, pre-programmed for the individual vehicle. When the unit is ordered we need to know what modifications have or will be made to the vehicle. We are then able to create a 3D map to suit these vehicles requirements. A proper 3D program map cannot be adjusted using a single screw type adjuster (these are 2D systems), no matter how many levels of adjustment it can provide. For all late model Diesel systems, we do not provide a “User Adjustment” system, as this could result in tampering with these settings, which could cause engine damage. We have tested vehicles with other systems, showing Exhaust Gas Temperatures of up to 800°C (safe temp should be around 600°C).
Our programs have over 1000 adjustment points, visible to us in either Data Table or a rotatable 3D Graph, allowing us to adjust any point of Load or RPM. Due to the power of this software, it will not initially be available to the shops. But we have been creating a simplified system, which allows adjustment of data in sections, and this will automatically create a smooth, consistent curve between the surrounding Load and RPM sections.
All power gains listed on our web site were achieved on standard vehicles, with no other modifications. So the systems are also a “stand alone” modification, which when combined with other products, achieve further gains.

NEW Tuning Systems for Direct Injection Petrol engines
Just as Diesel engines have adopted EFI Petrol technology, now Direct Injection Petrol engines are borrowing the technology of Common Rail Diesels. In 2005, we introduced the CRD2 Diesel Tuning Box, which was mapped to run up to 3 different engine functions. For Diesel engines, most now have both Fuel & Boost Control. After testing this early system on Direct Injection Petrol's, we realised that the petrol mapping required a much finer tuning resolution, so a new program was created with 1026points per map, and is now also used for our Diesel programs as well. The difference in map complexity between Petrol and Diesel can be seen in the map samples. Both Petrol and Diesel engines use the same CR Tuning box, only the wiring cable and installed programs are different. A CR"D" or "P" box would have a wiring cable connecting to only one function. Where as CRD"2" is now available for many Diesel engines, including vehicles like the Holden Captiva. CRP"2" is available for BMW 335i twin Turbo, New Mini Turbo and Peugeot 207 Turbo. CRP"3" is available for VAG 2.0L Turbo FSI engines like the Golf GTI.
Type two is an ECU re-program system ($1000 to $2000).
This program covers a lot more car models (mainly European), including EFI Petrol & Diesel engines. This system requires the use of a laptop, plugged into the vehicle diagnostic socket, via an interface unit. The program uploads the vehicles original file, copies the vehicles VIN and security details onto a performance modified program (unlike chips which have no identity codes), and then downloads the new program back into the vehicles ECU. The advantage of this is that it can adjust all ECU functions. For EFI Diesel it adjusts fuel pressure, injection timing/duration and boost. For EFI Petrol it adjusts injection timing/duration and ignition timing.
Audi Allroad 2.7L EFI: Before 184kw & 350Nm – After 220kw & 425Nm
BMW X5 & R/Rover 4.4L EFI: Before 210kw & 440Nm – After 221kw & 461Nm
BMW X5 & R/Rover TD6: Before 135kw & 390Nm – After 166kw & 502Nm
Merc. ML55 EFI: Before 255kw & 510Nm – After 280kw & 539Nm
Merc. ML270 & Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD: Before 120kw & 400Nm – After 150kw & 480Nm
Plus many more vehicles, both Petrol & Diesel
Type three is a Pocket Flash System ($1500 to $2000).
This one is the same as an ECU re-program but it allows the customer to restore the car back to original program as often as required in about 10minutes, without the use of a laptop. The unit is the size of a small mobile ph. and simply plugs into the Diagnostic socket. The vehicle is programmed with one button (short press to select options "Read std map", "Write std map", "Write performance map", and a long press to implement chosen option). Once programmed, remove the unit from the Diagnostic socket and store somewhere safe.
BMW X5 & R/Rover TD6: Before 135kw & 390Nm – After 166kw & 502Nm
Merc. ML270 & Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD: Before 120kw & 400Nm – After 150kw & 480Nm
Also available for VW/Audi PD Diesels, VW/Audi 1.8L EFI/Turbo & Mini EFI
The difference between these systems and other systems on the market is that our main objective is Engine Torque, not Kilowatts. The rule is that any engine is only as efficient as the amount of fuel it can completely burn per combustion stroke and convert into torque.
